At Remedy we see women at all stages of pregnancy.
It's an exciting and yet sometimes overwhelming time.
In the early stages of pregnancy many women will experience nausea, extreme fatigue and constipation. It is important to remember that there are many changes occurring in your body and you will need to adapt your lifestyle to accommodate these changes.
Simple remedies to help in the first trimester-
Eat small meals more frequently.
Have some nuts, biscuits or fruit at your desk or in your bag to eat before the nausea takes hold.
Sip on fluids regularly.
Cut a very fine piece of ginger, so fine that it is almost translucent and place this under your tongue.
Acupuncture and Pain Relief During Labour
Acupuncture might be able to assist with pain relief during labour. Usually these points can be pressed alongside any other techniques the birthing woman is choosing, such as calm birthing techniques or conventional pain relief. There is some research that has shown that Acupuncture has some potential positive effects for labour pains (1).
The points are located on the hands and feet, shoulders and lower back.
We encourage you to talk to your Acupuncturist, Midwife and Obstetrician to ascertain if they are suitable.
During one of the sessions we recommend that your partner or a friend comes along and we can show them how to stimulate these points using their hands to assist with pain management.
