Year of the Wood Snake & Free and Happy Wanderer

Year of the Wood Snake

Lunar New Year falls on January 29th and there is a lot going on in Melbourne, make sure you see the dragon dance in China Town for good luck!

It is a year for introspection and transformation, celebrating the characteristics of the snake with its ability to shed what is old.

It’s the year of the wood snake which represents abundance and prosperity. Since snakes are able to adapt to their environments this is a great year for change.

So if you've been thinking of shedding some old habits and starting with healthier ones this is your year.

Maybe this is a year to be more creative, to have better boundaries around work or to make a commitment to fostering friendships and deep joy. This can look like prioritising time in nature, gardening, slowing down or being more curious and creative.

For Remedy - yes even a small practice like ours can do with some transformation. This year we are choosing to send out monthly newsletters.

Each newsletter will focus on something our clients have mentioned they want to find out more about. It might be cupping or moxa or calming tips in stressful times.

This one is all about one of our favourite tinctures that we get asked a lot about. The Free & Happy Wanderer. Sometimes it's also called The Rambling Tonic.

The Free & Happy Wanderer is made of some easily recognisable herbs like Angelica, white paeony root, licorice root, ginger and peppermint.

It's one of our most useful tinctures because it assists with calming the nervous system and helping sluggish digestion and bloating.

It treats -

Irritability, anxiety , PMT, PMDD, overthinking things, insomnia, headaches, TMJ pain and pelvic pain or period pain.

Perimenopausal symptoms such as overheating, weight gain and bloating.

Digestive symptoms like bloating, IBS, fatigue and brain fog.

Chances are if you have some of these symptoms you will have been given this tincture or a variation of this tincture.

The Free & Happy wanderer, or Rambling tonic, works on digestion and the nervous system concurrently. It doesn't see them as separate issues. Instead the concept is that we literally need to digest ideas, feelings and thoughts just like we need to digest food. And it is for this reason when we are overwhelmed, stressed or tired we have digestive issues, an increase in pain and anxiety and lack of motivation.
