Happy New Year of the Fire Horse!

Chinese Medicine Body Clock

2026 brings the most Yang energy you can get! The Horse’s fixed element is already Fire, and this year is a Fire year so it’s double fire!

This year’s Chinese zodiac energies suggests big, bold moves and a push towards visibility and action.

This year it’s especially important to be intentional with rest and grounding, because the world may feel faster, brighter, and more exposed than usual. Peak Yang energy needs to be delicately balanced.

In Chinese Medicine, the Horse represents the highest noon of Yang. On the TCM clock, this corresponds to 11am–1pm: the peak of the sun, when everything is illuminated, shadows disappear, and nothing can hide. This is why the Fire Horse year is seen as a time for bold change. The energy is too bright for things to stay hidden.

There’s a Taoist saying: When Yang reaches its peak, Yin is born within it.” High noon is a turning point. Because you can’t get more Yang than the peak (thank God), the energy naturally begins to return toward the earth toward yin.

So, while this year encourages forward motion, big changes, and bold ideas, be sure not get swept into wanting to over achieve and burning out. Without enough rest and intentional nourishment, we risk burning the candle at both ends.

Like fire in nature: Indigenous peoples have long used fire to regenerate the land and when managed, it nourishes growth, when left uncontrolled, it can be devastating. The Fire Horse energy is the same, bold and powerful, but it needs intentional care.

Some ways of honouring this balance of Yin in the big year of Yang.

Eat more Yin foods and being intentional about meals - ask us about Yin foods next time you’re in.

Spending more time outdoors and grounding yourself in nature.

Allowing yourself to slow down without guilt when making big changes.
